Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- Lead and manage the organization's IT infrastructure and operations across servers, networks, cloud, storage, virtualization, endpoints, and data centers.
- Develop and execute the IT infrastructure strategy, roadmap, architecture, and modernization plans aligned with business requirements.
- Manage on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
- Oversee administration and operations of Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, virtualization, storage, backup, and network infrastructure.
- Manage cloud infrastructure across AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud, including migration, optimization, governance, and cost management.
- Ensure high availability, capacity, performance, monitoring, and operational resilience of critical IT infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, and high-availability strategies.
- Lead infrastructure migration, modernization, data-center consolidation, and cloud-transformation initiatives.
- Establish infrastructure monitoring, alerting, patch management, vulnerability remediation, and configuration-management processes.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement network security, endpoint security, identity and access management, vulnerability management, and security controls.
- Manage IT infrastructure incidents, problems, changes, and service requests in accordance with ITIL/ITSM practices.
- Define and monitor infrastructure SLAs, KPIs, availability targets, and operational performance metrics.
- Manage infrastructure vendors, managed service providers, contracts, licenses, and service-level agreements.
- Plan and manage infrastructure budgets, resource requirements, technology investments, and cloud/infrastructure cost optimization.
- Lead and mentor infrastructure, cloud, network, systems, and operations teams.
- Establish technical standards, policies, procedures, documentation, and infrastructure governance.
- Ensure compliance with organizational, regulatory, security, and audit requirements.
- Evaluate new infrastructure technologies and recommend solutions that improve scalability, security, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical leadership during major incidents, outages, migrations, and infrastructure transformation programs.
- Present infrastructure performance, risks, capacity, costs, and improvement initiatives to senior management.
Preferred candidate profile
- 7 to 12 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, cloud operations, network engineering, or IT operations, with progressive leadership responsibility.
- Proven experience managing enterprise-scale infrastructure environments across on-premises, cloud, or hybrid environments.
- Strong hands-on and managerial knowledge of servers, networking, virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and enterprise IT operations.
- Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory/Entra ID, VMware/Hyper-V, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, and load balancing.
- Experience leading cloud migration, infrastructure modernization, data-center transformation, or hybrid-cloud initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL/ITSM, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, SLA management, and service governance.
- Experience implementing infrastructure automation, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, patching, configuration management, and CI/CD.
- Working knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Bash, Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of cybersecurity, IAM, vulnerability management, endpoint security, network security, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Experience managing infrastructure vendors, MSPs, contracts, licenses, budgets, and SLAs.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional technical teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work with senior leadership and business teams.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Experience defining infrastructure strategy, technology standards, operational procedures, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a related field; MCA/M.Tech/MBA is an advantage.
- Certifications such as AWS/Azure, ITIL, Cisco, VMware, Kubernetes, Terraform, PMP, or CISSP are advantageous depending on the role.
