Senior Lead Developer (Java / Microservices) About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Lead Developer to design, build, and scale robust backend systems. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on expertise in Java, Microservices architecture, AWS cloud services, and a proven ability to solve complex engineering problems. You will play a key role in both High-Level System Design (HLD) and Low-Level System Design (LLD), driving technical decisions that impact scalability, reliability, and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices using Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks).
  • Own High-Level System Design (HLD) define system architecture, service boundaries, data flow, and integration patterns for new and existing systems.
  • Own Low-Level System Design (LLD) translate architecture into detailed class diagrams, database schemas, API contracts, and design patterns.
  • Architect and deploy cloud-native applications on AWS, leveraging services such as ECS (container orchestration) and S3 (object storage).
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs and event-driven microservices with a focus on scalability, fault tolerance, and maintainability.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills to debug complex production issues, optimize performance, and improve system reliability.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code and participate in code reviews.
  • Participate in capacity planning, monitoring, and incident response for production systems.
Required Skills & Experience
  • 7+ years of professional backend development experience
  • Strong proficiency in Java and related frameworks (Spring / Spring Boot).
  • Solid experience building and maintaining Microservices architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, particularly:
    • Amazon S3 (storage, lifecycle policies, access management)
    • Amazon ECS (container orchestration, task/service definitions, scaling)
  • Demonstrated ability in High-Level System Design (HLD) architecture, scalability, distributed systems concepts (load balancing, caching, message queues, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability in Low-Level System Design (LLD) OOP design principles, design patterns, database/schema design, API design.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to debug and optimize complex systems.
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API design and integration patterns.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git).
Good to Have
  • Experience with other AWS services (Lambda, SQS/SNS, RDS, CloudWatch, API Gateway).
  • Exposure to Apache Camel EIP patten
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading small technical initiatives.
  • Experience working on data pipelinedriven projects (e.g., ETL/ELT workflows, batch or streaming data processing, tools like Kafka, Spark, Airflow, AWS Glue, or Kinesis) is a plus.
