Job Description
About the role
Were hiring a CPG Subject Matter Expert on behalf of a fast-scaling, venture-backed company that builds production-grade agentic AI for Fortune 500 enterprises across CPG, Banking, MedTech, and Industrial. CPG is one of their flagship verticals, spanning the highest-leverage commercial workflows: brand planning, revenue growth management, trade promotion optimisation, demand forecasting, and category strategy.
This is a founding seat in their CPG practice. Youll be the domain authority who turns billion-dollar CPG commercial problems into AI that moves client PL - the translator between the clients brand room and the engineering team.
What youll do
Client development and proposal building
- Ramp across CPG problem spaces: brand planning, RGM, trade promotion optimisation, demand forecasting, category strategy, commercial planning
- Lead discovery workshops and stakeholder conversations across Marketing, Brand, RGM, Commercial, Category, and Finance
- Diagnose the real business problem behind the stated requirement, structure it analytically, and co-author proposals
Business-to-technology translation
- Act as the interface between the clients business teams and the data scientists, AI engineers, and product teams
- Convert commercial problems - forecast bias, marketing ROI, promotion lift, share erosion, seasonal volatility, category cannibalisation - into structured analytical and AI problem definitions
- Review model outputs and agent behaviour for commercial soundness; flag outputs that are technically correct but commercially impractical
- Define KPIs, acceptance criteria, and success metrics; support deployment and adoption post-launch
Building the practice
- Develop CPG playbooks, benchmarks, and frameworks that scale across engagements
- Contribute to the library of CPG bottleneck patterns and domain ontologies
- Identify cross-sell and expansion opportunities within active accounts
What were looking for (required)
- 4 8 years experience, with 3+ inside a top-10 global CPG company (Unilever, PG, Reckitt, Mondelez, Kraft Heinz, Nestl , Colgate-Palmolive, JJ, Haleon, Kenvue, GSK Consumer Health, or equivalent)
- Substantive experience in one or more of: Brand Planning, Category Strategy, RGM, Category Sales, Trade Marketing, or Commercial Strategy
- Hands-on with a mature household brand (cleaning, hygiene, personal care, food) or a seasonal healthcare/OTC brand (cough cold, allergy, pain relief)
- Proven ability to lead senior client-facing stakeholder conversations independently
- Strong analytical rigour: MMM outputs, elasticity coefficients, forecast accuracy metrics, PL mechanics
- High autonomy - able to take a broad problem and build a framework with limited guidance
Strongly preferred
- Consulting background (McKinsey, Bain, BCG, Deloitte SO, Kearney, or a boutique CPG consultancy) plus in-house CPG operating experience
- Exposure to analytics platforms, MMM tools, or RGM software
- Experience across emerging and developed markets; India plus one of US, UK, Europe, or China is ideal
Why join
- Systems that run in production and impact client PL, with full visibility to client leadership
- A founding role shaping how the CPG vertical is built and scaled, working directly with the founders
- In the room with client C-suite from day one, with a clear path to practice leadership
