Solar Design Engineer

Role

Design Engineer (Solar) is a full-time, on-site role, responsible for preparing and reviewing detailed solar system designs for residential and C&I projects.

Greater Kolkata Area, West Bengal

Experience

Minimum relevant experience of 3 - 5 Years in Solar Sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and cost estimation of the rooftop solar projects for residential and C&I customers, ensuring project scope, schedule, quality, aesthetic and safety standards are met.
• Visit and conduct site assessments including shade analysis, roof structure evaluation etc.
• Perform system sizing, configuration and energy yield simulation using solar design software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, SketchUp).
• Prepare system layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), detailed electrical & structural drawings.
• Estimate material quantities, costs, and BoM (Bill of Materials).
• Prepare techno-commercial proposals.
• Ensure compliance with relevant electrical standards, codes and utility regulations.
• Coordinate with procurement, project execution and O&M teams for smooth project delivery.
• Stay updated with technological advancements, government policies and subsidy structures in solar energy.
• Perform any other responsibilities as assigned by the organization.

Qualifications & Skills

• B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical Engineering or specialization in Solar Engineering.
• Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in solar PV design and engineering.
• Must have hands-on experience in cost estimation, BOM preparation.
• Proficiency in design tools such as PVsyst, AutoCAD, Helioscope, SketchUp etc.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, structural design and rooftop installation methodologies.
• Familiarity with local electrical codes, MNRE/IEC standards.

Compensation & Earning Potential

• CTC: 20% over and above the current salary.
