Job Title: Senior Oracle DBA and Migration Specialist
Experience: 10-12 years

Role Overview:
We are seeking a high-powered, critical-thinking Senior Oracle DBA and Migration Specialist to drive the complex migration of our core database tier from Oracle 19c to Oracle 26AI Autonomous Database (ADB). This role is embedded in a fast-moving, multi-cloud hosting migration out of on-premises/legacy environments into a modern infrastructure where Oracle workloads run via specialized fabric seamlessly integrated with Microsoft Azure.
As our sole or primary Oracle subject matter expert, you will not rely on manuals or Tier-1 support scripts. You must possess the native expertise to diagnose intricate performance anomalies across mixed workloads, configure complex third-party security integrations, and confidently challenge Oracle Support when resolving structural engine bugs.
Core Responsibilities:
- Database Migration Cutover Execution:
- Orchestrate zero/near-zero downtime production cutovers using Oracle Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) and Oracle GoldenGate for continuous data replication and final synchronization
- Manage a multi-region deployment approach, setting up isolated dev, UAT, and Disaster Recovery (DR) targets without disrupting existing CI/CD pipelines
- Validate system functionality and execute rigorous shakeout/performance testing on Prod 2 staging regions prior to modifying production DNS records
- Enterprise Key Management Security Integration:
- Take complete ownership of migrating a highly sensitive hardware-based HSM (Thales Luna Physical Appliance) to a cloud-based Luna Virtual HSM setup
- Ensure compliance with top-tier U.S. banking security requirements by maintaining a flawless, continuous authentication heartbeat between the Autonomous Database and the Virtual HSM to prevent database lockups
- Troubleshoot complex vendor interdependencies (Oracle vs. Thales Luna vs. Virtualization providers) to resolve caching, timeout, or key revocation challenges
- Advanced Performance Tuning 26AI Optimization:
- Diagnose and resolve performance degradation unique to Oracle 26AI/23c architectures, including slow DDL/DML processing speeds and network priority issues
- Optimize mixed workloads that demand massive overnight/early morning ETL batch processing alongside high-concurrency transactional processing (OLTP) throughout the day
- Perform deep-dive analysis on the Top 50 critical execution plans using AWR miners to mitigate risks associated with optimizer variations between 19c and 26AI
- Evaluate and advise on new 26AI capabilities, assessing the strategic utility of features like AI Vector Search and parameters governing time zones, formats, and memory allocations
- Cloud Infrastructure Client Connectivity:
- Configure Autonomous Database (ADB) instance modes, resource pools, and connection strings (Low, Medium, High workload criticalities) to optimize eCPU, memory (SGA/PGA), and IOPS scaling
- Manage the specific constraints of an OCI-backed database deployed through Azure Billing/Hardware fabric, utilizing native Oracle Consoles for all direct administration
- Own client-side rollouts for a large engineering organization (~80-90 users), deploying new SQL Developer/Instant Clients configured with Microsoft Entra ID (OAuth) authentication and localized wallet profiles
- Deeply analyze SQLNet parameters, trace logging, and routing profiles to isolate OCI private network latency from actual database engine delays
Required Technical Skills Qualifications:
- Deep Oracle Heritage: Extensive experience managing enterprise Oracle database environments (versions like 19c/23c/26AI)
- Autonomous Database Mastery: Proven track record deploying and managing Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB) environments in OCI, with deep knowledge of what parameters remain DBA-managed in a PaaS model
- Thales Luna HSM Expertise: Direct hands-on experience integrating Oracle TDE/Wallets with hardware and virtual Thales Luna HSM solutions
- Data Replication Migration Tools: Highly proficient in Oracle GoldenGate, Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM), and AWR analysis
- Multi-Cloud Identity Networking: Familiarity with the Oracle DEMAIL_ADDRESS ecosystem, private OCI networking (OCI ping troubleshooting), and Microsoft Entra ID OAuth token authentication
- Vendor Management: Strong capability to drive Oracle Tier-3 support engineers past basic troubleshooting scripts to target and uncover actual engine bugs
