Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and qualified individual to join our team as a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our state-of-the-art scanning electron microscope and spectroscopy. This role requires a strong background in microscopy, materials science, and electron dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) techniques to ensure accurate and reliable data generation.
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Operate and control the scanning electron microscope to achieve high-quality imaging, and EDX analysis.
  • Perform sample preparation and loading for imaging and analysis.
  • Conduct regular calibration and maintenance of the SEM to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly.
  • Capture and process images using appropriate software.
  • Analyze and interpret SEM data to provide meaningful insights.
  • Operate other analytical instruments like FTIR, UV-Visible spectrophotometer etc
  • Collaborate with researchers and scientists to understand project requirements.
  • Train and assist laboratory personnel in the proper use of the SEM.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to researchers on SEM-related projects.
  • Maintain detailed records of SEM settings, calibration, and maintenance activities.
  • Generate comprehensive reports summarizing experimental procedures and results.
  • Implement and adhere to quality control measures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of SEM data.
  • Stay informed about advancements in SEM technology and techniques.
Qualification:
  • Master s or Doctoral degree or higher in a relevant field such as materials science, physics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of five years of hands-on experience operating scanning electron microscopes on a variety of materials (soft polymers and metal-based).
  • Hands-on experience in in sample preparation techniques for SEM analysis as per sample nature. Strong knowledge of SEM operation, calibration, and maintenance.
  • Proficient in SEM-related software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with effective interpersonal skills.
  • Certification or publications as evidence for SEM operation and data analysis is highly desirable.
