Job Description
Role & responsibilities
- Define and drive the platform architecture, technical strategy, and roadmap for scalable, secure, and highly available technology platforms.
- Design and evolve cloud-native, distributed, and developer platforms that support multiple applications, engineering teams, and business capabilities.
- Translate business and technical requirements into scalable platform architecture, reference architectures, and technical solutions.
- Design platform capabilities across cloud infrastructure, compute, networking, storage, databases, APIs, containers, security, and observability.
- Drive adoption of microservices, Kubernetes, containerization, Infrastructure as Code, DevOps, and platform engineering practices.
- Design and implement reusable platform services, APIs, frameworks, and automation that improve developer productivity and engineering efficiency.
- Establish architecture standards, design patterns, technical guidelines, and best practices across platform engineering teams.
- Lead architecture reviews, technical design reviews, proof-of-concepts, and technology evaluations.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Security, Data, Product, and Infrastructure teams to deliver platform capabilities.
- Ensure platforms meet requirements for scalability, performance, reliability, security, availability, and cost efficiency.
- Design and implement CI/CD, observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and automated infrastructure management capabilities.
- Drive cloud modernization, migration, infrastructure automation, and platform transformation initiatives.
- Establish security, IAM, compliance, governance, disaster recovery, and business continuity standards for platform environments.
- Identify and address architectural gaps, technical debt, scalability challenges, operational risks, and performance bottlenecks.
- Drive cloud cost optimization and FinOps initiatives across platform infrastructure.
- Mentor Platform Engineers, Software Engineers, Technical Leads, and Architects and provide technical guidance on complex engineering challenges.
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, technical specifications, platform documentation, standards, and reference implementations.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and evaluate new platforms, frameworks, cloud services, and engineering practices.
Preferred candidate profile
- 5 to 10 years of experience in Software Engineering, Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Solution Architecture, or a related technical field.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise platforms, cloud platforms, developer platforms, or distributed systems.
- Strong expertise in Platform Architecture, Cloud Architecture, System Design, Software Architecture, and Distributed Systems.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP and cloud-native architecture.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and DevOps.
- Strong understanding of microservices, REST APIs, API gateways, event-driven architecture, service mesh, and distributed systems.
- Experience with databases and data technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, Kafka, or RabbitMQ.
- Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, DNS, load balancing, security, IAM, and cloud infrastructure.
- Experience implementing observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and reliability engineering using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry.
- Strong understanding of high availability, scalability, disaster recovery, performance optimization, security, and cost optimization.
- Experience building self-service platforms, internal developer platforms, reusable services, APIs, and automation frameworks is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of SRE, DevSecOps, platform engineering, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation practices.
- Experience leading architecture decisions and influencing technical direction across multiple engineering teams.
- Excellent technical leadership, communication, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to balance developer experience, business requirements, security, reliability, scalability, and infrastructure costs.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
- B.E./B.Tech/MCA/M.Tech or equivalent qualification preferred.
- Certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, CKA/CKAD, or Terraform Associate are an added advantage.
