Mines Manager

Role & responsibilities

• Candidate must be qualified in BE / B.Tech Mining with second class Managers certificate of competency from authorized Authority
• Should have hands-on experience in hard stone mines and quarries
• Following instructions or diagrams, lay out drill pattern and determine depth and diameter of blast holes
• Conduct field tests to determine type and quantity of explosives required
• Assemble primer charges using selected detonators, fuses, detonating cords and other materials
• Load explosives in blast holes as required (using equipment or by hand)
• Check and ensure the connectivity of electrical wires, detonating cords or fuses into series and connect series to blasting machines; control detonation device
• Handle, store and transport explosives and accessories in accordance with standard procedures, criteria and regulations, ensuring maximum safety
• Ensure that the highest level of quality of operation is consistently maintained help minimize downtime and wastage
• Complete all safety requirements for all applicable equipment and machinery
• Generally assist other related team members as and when required
• Improve working operations and safety
• Contribute to relevant costing/supply/budgetary reviews
• Effectively liaise and communicate and maintain a good relationship with team members, contractor/suppliers and other stakeholders as required
• Subject to appropriate criteria, general support of all project team members to ensure targets are met
• Maintain accurate data/records/documentation
• Ensure compliance with health and safety and all related legal/statutory regulations, policies and procedures, codes, professional duties, responsibilities and obligations and insert as applicable
• Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the team or the organization to line manager
• Responsibly use resources and control expenses to meet budgetary controls
• Adhere to all organization policies and procedures
• Set an example for team members of commitment, safety expertise, work ethics and habits and personal character

Preferred candidate profile

Hands-on experience in stone quarry only preferred
