FREEDOM ENGLISH ACADEMY (FEA) INDIA EQUIPS TENS OF THOUSANDS OF AMBITIOUS, HARD-WORKING YOUNG PEOPLE WITH EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS AND TOOLS. OUR MISSION IS TO ACTIVATE THE POTENTIAL OF DISADVANTAGED YOUTH SO THEY CAN LIFT THEMSELVES OUT OF POVERTY. Approximately 115 million young people in India live in extreme poverty, according to a 2016 World Bank report. The huge unemployment rate among India’s youth, due to a lack of professional skills, keep these young people in a vicious cycle of poverty. India is primed for economic growth but only if it can successfully harness its “demographic dividend”. India’s demographic dividend will only fully be realized if India is able to create gainful employment opportunities. Freedom English Academy (FEA) India believes that cultivating employability skills is the best way to realize India’s growth potential. Incepted in 2010, FEA India is a dynamic, non-governmental, non-religious, not-for-profit organization that provides young people with the skills and tools they need to break free from the cycle of poverty. FEA India currently operates in over 10 cities across India and uses over 100 branches to provide supplemental training to over 25,000+ young people, ages 15 to 27, who have recently entered, or who are on the verge of entering, India’s workforce. FEA provides a free program to develop English language skills, and transformative personal skills, like drive, determination, self-confidence, critical thinking, discipline, ability to postpone gratification and persistence. FEA helps students become life-long, self-directed learners, by becoming adept at using Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and provides career counseling and mentorship. FEA’s dynamic one-year curriculum is designed with inputs from global experts. It provides a life-changing experience at an impressionable life-stage. It awakens and empowers youth, who would otherwise be disadvantaged, with life-long skills that are crucial to their success in a modern economy.
