Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Android Developer to contribute to product development for a customized POS/reader hardware platform. The candidate will work on Android applications and device-side software, with hands-on responsibility for peripheral and camera integration, USB/serial communication, offline/online workflows, device identity and version management, kiosk/launcher mode behavior, logging, debugging, and coordination with firmware/BSP vendors. Strong experience in Java/Kotlin Android development and custom Android hardware is essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Android applications and device-side software for customized POS/reader hardware.
  • Integrate cameras and other hardware peripherals with Android applications.
  • Implement USB and serial communication between Android software and external devices.
  • Develop robust offline and online workflows with synchronization and error handling.
  • Implement device identity, version management, and device configuration mechanisms.
  • Develop and maintain kiosk/launcher mode behavior for controlled device environments.
  • Implement application logging, diagnostics, debugging, and issue analysis.
  • Integrate REST APIs and backend services with Android applications.
  • Coordinate with firmware and BSP vendors for hardware/software integration and issue resolution.
  • Collaborate with product, QA, hardware, and engineering teams to deliver reliable field-deployed solutions.

Required Skills

  • 4 to 6 years of hands-on Android development experience.
  • Strong programming skills in Java and/or Kotlin.
  • Hands-on experience with Android Studio and Android SDK.
  • Experience developing Android applications for custom or embedded hardware platforms.
  • Experience with REST API integration and network-based application workflows.
  • Experience with local storage and offline data management.
  • Good understanding of Android background services, permissions, and application lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with ADB and logcat for debugging and troubleshooting.
  • Experience integrating cameras and hardware peripherals with Android applications.
  • Experience with USB and serial communication.
  • Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience working with medical devices, diagnostic instruments, or field-deployed devices.

• Experience with embedded Android platforms and customized Android builds.

• Experience with camera-based image capture and processing.

• Experience coordinating with firmware, BSP, and hardware vendors.

• Exposure to device fleet management, OTA updates, or device configuration systems.
