Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Experience: 8+ years overall.

• Within the overall experience, the candidate should have at least 5 years of strong/pure


MySQL experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, upgrade, and manage MySQL databases in production, staging, and

development environments.

• Design and maintain high-availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR) solutions using replication,

clustering, and failover mechanisms.

• Perform advanced performance tuning and optimization of queries, indexes, schemas, and

server configurations.

• Monitor database health, capacity, and performance; proactively identify and resolve issues.

• Implement and manage backup, recovery, and archival strategies, including point-in-time

recovery.

• Ensure database security by managing users, roles, privileges, and auditing access.

• Plan and execute database upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.

• Support application deployments and troubleshoot database-related production issues.

• Work closely with developers to review database designs, queries, and data models.

• Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts and monitoring tools.

• Maintain detailed documentation for database architecture, standards, and operational

procedures.

• Stay current with MySQL best practices, new features, and emerging database technologies.

• Mentor junior DBAs and provide technical guidance when required.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

• Atleast 5+ years of hands-on experience as a MySQL Database Administrator.

• Strong expertise in MySQL performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing.

• Extensive experience with replication, clustering, and high-availability setups.

• In-depth knowledge of backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning, and data integrity.

• Strong understanding of database security, encryption, and compliance standards.

• Proficiency in SQL, database design, and data modeling.

• Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools and automation scripts (Shell, Python, etc.).

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

• Experience with cloud databases (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure MySQL, GCP).

• Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.

• Exposure to NoSQL or other RDBMS platforms (PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).

• Experience in handling large databases and high-transaction systems.
