Consultant Gastroenterologist

Role & responsibilities

• Clinical Evaluation: Assess patients presenting with gastrointestinal symptoms, review medical histories, and conduct physical examinations.
• Diagnostics: Order and interpret lab tests, X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans to pinpoint digestive anomalies.
• Endoscopic Procedures: Perform visual inspections of the intestinal tract using flexible, lighted tubes (endoscopes and colonoscopes) to detect and treat issues internally.
• Treatment Planning: Prescribe medications, recommend dietary/lifestyle changes, and coordinate with surgeons when surgical intervention is required.
• Patient Education: Counsel patients and their families on managing chronic illnesses, treatment options, and preventive care (e.g., colorectal cancer screenings)
