Role & responsibilities
The Citrix Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining & monitoring Citrix environments, including XenApp, XenDesktop, Citrix Cloud, and associated technologies such as Provisioning Server (PVS), Machine Creation Services (MCS), Workspace Environment Management (WEM), VMware, and NetScaler. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of virtual applications and desktops. Ensuring end to end technical support.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Administer Citrix XenApp & XenDesktop environments in hybrid model, including PVS, MCS, WEM, SF and NetScaler.
- Good understanding of VMware infrastructure, including ESX and ESXi management as underlying hypervisor.
- Monitor and optimize system performance using Citrix Director, Dynatrace, SolarWinds, and licensing tools.
- Integrate third-party systems and applications to meet business requirements.
- Work with security and monitoring tools such as CrowdStrike, Qualys, Zscaler, Splunk, MFA, Tanium, and Workspace ONE.
- Follow ITIL processes for incident, change, and problem management.
- Understanding of disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
- Provide L1/L2 Citrix support and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Maintain documentation, SOPs, and configuration records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (network, storage, application, database) to fulfil Citrix requirements.
- Perform certificate deployment and renewal tasks.
- Support ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and Jira.
- Participate in 24x7 support rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Each weekend needs to perform Citrix maintenance.
Preferred candidate profile
- 4----7 years of experience in Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, Citrix Cloud, VMware, and Windows Server environments.
- Strong knowledge of Citrix farm management, session handling, printer management, and application publishing/decommissioning.
- Expertise in PVS, MCS, profile management solutions, and Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
- Solid understanding of Windows Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows 10/11 thin client environments.
- Familiarity with SCCM, Tanium, NetScaler, and MFA solutions (OKTA, RSA).
- Knowledge of ITIL processes and best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently or in a team environment.
- Proficiency in automation scripting using PowerShell for routine tasks, patching, and system optimization.
- Experience with AI-driven monitoring and analytics tools for predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, and capacity planning.
- Strong understanding of automation frameworks and integration with IT processes (Incident, Change, Problem Management) to streamline operations.
- Current Citrix Certified Associate (CCA) certification preferred.
