Ather Energy is India's original intelligent electric vehicle manufacturer, founded in 2013 by IIT Madras alumni Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain. Ather is backed by Hero MotoCorp, Tiger Global, and sovereign funds like GIC & NIIF from India & Singapore.
In 2018, Ather launched India’s first truly intelligent electric scooter, The Ather 450, which was followed by their flagship offering - Ather 450X, in 2020. Further, in August 2023, Ather introduced the 450S and two variants of the 450X. This was followed by the launch of Ather’s first family scooter, Rizta in April 2024.
Moreover, Ather has also established an extensive public charging network, the Ather Grid, which was also designed and built in India. With over 2000 charging points across 200+ cities, Ather Grid is the country’s largest fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers. Ather has 191 Indian and international patent applications, 600+ trademarks, and 200+ Indian and International design registrations to its name and aims to provide consumers with the best possible ownership experience.
The company currently operates across 200+ cities, including Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Jaipur, Kochi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Mysore, Kolkata and Nepal. With a team size of over 3000+ team members, Ather has grown beyond its startup roots to become a leader in the electric vehicle industry, offering a blend of innovation, stability, and a forward-thinking approach that continues to drive India's transition to sustainable transportation solutions.
