Most content on YouTube is uploaded by individuals, but media corporations including CBS, BBC, Vevo, and Hulu also offer some of their material via YouTube as part of the YouTube partnership program.

YouTube was created in February 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim. Google bought the site in November 2006 for US$1.65 billion; YouTube now operates as one of Google's subsidiaries. YouTube allows users to easily upload and share videos across the Internet, and then to view them on a multitude of devices, including personal computers, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. YouTube is a global platform available in numerous languages and accessible in most countries.
