We are seeking a DevOps Lead Backstage to design, develop, and manage an Internal Developer Platform (IDP) using Backstage. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in platform engineering, cloud-native technologies, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and developer experience (DevEx). This role will focus on building self-service developer capabilities, integrating engineering toolchains, and improving software delivery efficiency across the organization.
Requirements :
- 5 to 8 years of experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or Software Development.
- Strong hands-on experience with Backstage architecture, plugin development, and Internal Developer Platforms (IDP).
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, React.js, Node.js, REST APIs, and GraphQL.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Strong knowledge of AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
- Experience integrating Backstage with tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, JFrog, Black Duck, and Kubernetes.
- Experience with Identity & Access Management (SSO, OAuth, RBAC).
- Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and cloud-native application development.
- Experience managing software catalogs, service ownership metadata, and developer documentation.
- Familiarity with DevOps best practices, release management, and platform governance.
- Strong troubleshooting, automation, and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities :
- Design, develop, and maintain Backstage-based Internal Developer Portals.
- Develop custom Backstage plugins, templates, and integrations to enhance developer productivity.
- Integrate engineering and DevOps tools into the developer platform to provide a unified developer experience.
- Build and manage software catalogs, service ownership models, and technical documentation frameworks.
- Create self-service workflows for application provisioning, deployment, and operational tasks.
- Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, platform, and security teams to drive platform adoption.
- Implement and manage CI/CD integrations and automation workflows.
- Establish observability, monitoring, logging, and alerting capabilities across the developer platform.
- Implement security controls, authentication, authorization, and governance standards within the platform.
- Support multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud deployments across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments.
- Drive platform modernization and migration initiatives where required.
- Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously optimize reliability and scalability.
- Define platform standards, best practices, and developer enablement processes.
Preferred Skills :
- Experience building enterprise-scale Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs).
- Knowledge of Platform Engineering methodologies and Developer Experience (DevEx) practices.
- Experience contributing to Backstage open-source plugins or community projects.
- Familiarity with security scanning and governance tools.
- Experience with enterprise cloud transformation and modernization initiatives.
