We are looking for highly skilled cybersecurity professionals to join SecurityBoat as vCISO consultants on a contract basis. As a vCISO, you will act as the virtual security leader for our clientsproviding strategic direction, regulatory compliance support, risk management leadership, and technical oversight. You will help organizations build, implement, and manage their entire security program across cloud and on-prem environments.
This is a flexible, remote-friendly opportunity ideal for experienced security leaders who want to work across diverse industries like fin tech, SaaS, healthcare, and manufacturingwithout the limitations of a full-time corporate role.
Key Responsibilities :
- Serve as a virtual security advisor to client leadership (CXOs, IT heads, boards)
- Define and implement security strategy aligned with business goals
- Conduct risk assessments and maintain risk registers
- Develop, review, and enforce security policies, procedures, and governance frameworks
- Guide and support audit readiness for frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR
- Oversee incident response planning and business continuity initiatives
- Conduct security posture evaluations across infrastructure, applications, and cloud platforms.
- Lead vendor risk management and third-party security assessments
- Prepare and deliver security status reports, KPIs, and risk dashboards to stakeholders
- Collaborate with internal dev, infra, and product teams on secure development lifecycle
- Stay current on regulatory changes and security trends to advise clients accordingly.
Requirements- 8+ years of experience in cybersecurity, including at least 3 years in a leadership or advisory role
- Strong command over security frameworks: NIST CSF, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, SOC 2.
- Hands-on experience with risk management, compliance, GRC workflows, and audit support.
- Proficiency in cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern tech stacks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (must be able to interface with senior leadership)
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple clients if needed
- Certifications preferred:CISSP, CISM, CRISC, CISA, ISO 27001 LA
- Experience with compliance tools like Drata, Vanta, ZenGRC, Tugboat Logic is a plus
