Role Overview :
As a Lead engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative applications and services, ensuring they meet the needs of our global customer base. Your contributions will help shape the future of technology at Rakuten.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and manage scalable microservices and applications using Java and Spring Boot.
- Collaborate with team members to identify and resolve technical challenges and improve application performance.
- Participate in code reviews to maintain high standards of quality and to promote best practices within the development team.
- Write clean, maintainable code and ensure comprehensive testing to uphold product reliability.
- Engage in Agile methodologies and contribute to sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance our products.
- Document technical specifications and system architectures to facilitate knowledge sharing across the team.
- Production Operations and handling the bugs in Production.
- Monitoring and Alerting, Performance Optimization, Capacity Planning.
- Accelerate the SDLC by integrating AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code)
Required Qualifications:
- 6 to 8 years of relevant experience in software development, with a strong focus on Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture.
- Proficient understanding of software design patterns and best practices.
- Demonstrated experience working in a collaborative team environment, employing Agile methodologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize software performance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with containerizations technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with database management systems and experience in database design and optimization.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD tools to streamline the development process.
- Exposure to front-end technologies and frameworks is a plus.
- Knowledge on AI tools like Claude Code, Cursor etc
