Job Description

Key Responsibilities 1. Power Plant Electrical Systems
  • Operation and maintenance of generators, transformers, switchgear, motors, and protection systems.
  • Monitoring electrical equipment performance and ensuring uninterrupted power generation.
  • Troubleshooting electrical faults and coordinating repairs.
2. High-Voltage Equipment
  • Managing substations, transmission interfaces, circuit breakers, isolators, and protection relays.
  • Conducting testing and commissioning of new electrical equipment.
  • Ensuring compliance with grid and safety standards.
3. Preventive Predictive Maintenance
  • Preparing maintenance schedules.
  • Analyzing equipment condition through testing and diagnostics.
  • Reducing forced outages and improving plant availability.
4. Project Execution
  • Reviewing electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Supervising contractors during erection and commissioning activities.
  • Coordinating with civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and control teams.
5. Safety Compliance
  • Following electrical safety procedures and permit systems.
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations from organizations such as Central Electricity Authority and other statutory bodies.
  • Conducting safety audits and risk assessments.
6. Renewable Energy Projects
In NTPC's solar and renewable projects, engineers may also work on:
