Job Description
We are looking for a hands-on Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer with strong experience in automotive EV ECUs. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in real-time embedded systems, firmware architecture, and safety-critical development. You should be comfortable owning firmware modules end-to-end, driving technical quality, collaborating across hardware and software teams, and mentoring engineers in a fast-paced EV technology environment.
What you will own and do:-
Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware in C/C++ for EV ECUs.
-
Own MCU-level firmware including startup code, linker scripts, interrupts, and device drivers (ADC, PWM, DMA, SPI, I2C, CAN, UART).
-
Ensure deterministic real-time behavior and implement firmware safety mechanisms such as watchdogs, diagnostics, and safe states.
-
Lead board bring-up, hardware software integration, and debugging using JTAG, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
-
Integrate firmware with MCAL, AUTOSAR components, and application software.
-
Support CAN/CAN FD communication, UDS diagnostics, and firmware flashing.
-
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to design reviews and technical direction.
-
Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
-
Strong proficiency in Embedded C (C++ is a plus).
-
Deep understanding of ARM Cortex-M MCU architecture (Infineon, TI, STM, NXP) and real-time systems.
-
Experience with CAN/CAN FD, UDS diagnostics, and ECU firmware development.
-
Working knowledge of ISO 26262, ASPICE, MISRA C/C++ standards.
-
Familiarity with AUTOSAR Classic (MCAL/BSW).
-
Experience with debugging and development tools such as Lauterbach, Segger, CANoe/CANalyzer, Polyspace/Coverity, and Git.
-
Ability to independently own firmware modules and mentor engineers.
-
You are satisfied with where you are in life and do not want to push to learn/grow further.
-
You believe that the best products are built by following your instincts instead of listening to users.
-
You are more concerned about short-term payoffs than long-term payoffs.
-
You are fundamentally risk averse.
-
You like working in an extremely structured environment or being explicitly told what to do at every step.
At Matter Motors, we are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and engaging work environment. Here is what you can expect as part of our team:
