Senior Performance Engineer
Hyderabad, India (Hybrid 3 days office / 2 days remote)
Role Overview
As a Senior Performance Engineer, you will ensure Nasuni s Cloud File Data Services platform meets rigorous performance, scalability, and reliability standards at enterprise scale.
This role is ideal for engineers who:
- Thrive in distributed systems environments
- Enjoy diagnosing complex bottlenecks
- Prefer deep technical ownership over people management
This role is not intended for entry-level QA engineers or purely manual testers.
Level Scope Definition
You will:
- Own performance validation strategy for a defined product domain
- Design and maintain automated performance test frameworks
- Define performance benchmarks and release criteria in partnership with engineering
- Lead root cause investigations for performance-related defects
- Mentor junior engineers in debugging and test design
- Influence architectural decisions through performance insights
You will not:
- Directly manage people
- Own company-wide performance strategy
- Operate solely as a test executor
This role requires high autonomy within your domain and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Architect and extend Python-based performance automation frameworks
- Design and execute load, stress, endurance, and scalability tests
- Build and scale performance testbeds across hypervisors and cloud environments
- Analyze system logs, telemetry, and metrics to identify bottlenecks
- Partner with development teams to define performance SLAs and testability requirements
- Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines
- Conduct root cause analysis for performance regressions
- Mentor engineers on distributed systems validation practices
Qualifications
Must-Have Qualifications
- 5 8 years of experience in performance testing or test automation
- Strong Python programming skills
- Hands-on experience validating distributed systems
- Advanced Linux systems knowledge
- Experience designing and executing load/stress testing
- Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab
- Experience using Git workflows
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of NFS, CIFS, or file system protocols
- Experience with benchmarking tools such as SPEC SFS, VDBench, or FIO
- Experience configuring performance environments across hypervisors or cloud platforms
- Networking fundamentals (VLANs, routing, protocol tuning)
- Experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code tools
Ideal Qualifications
- Experience validating storage or file infrastructure products
- Experience debugging performance issues across multi-node distributed architectures
- Experience scaling performance environments to simulate enterprise workloads
Experience Guidelines
- 5 8 years total experience in software engineering, performance testing, or infrastructure validation
- 3+ years hands-on experience in distributed systems performance testing
- Demonstrated experience owning end-to-end performance initiatives within a product domain
