Senior Manager - SAP Master Data Governance (EPC Industry)

Must-Have

• Strong experience in SAP Master Data / SAP MDG / Material and Service Master, with proven EPC industry exposure.
• Deep knowledge of master data nomenclature, UNSPSC or similar codification, and nounmodifier based material classification.
• Hands-on experience and strong category knowledge in Material Master, Service Master, BOM, PM Master, equipment-related master data, Business Partner (Vendor / Customer), and financial objects such as Cost Center, Profit Center, Internal Order, General Ledger, and Asset Master, Project system- Project code & WBS used in EPC industry.
• Ability to analyze existing data, identify duplicates and poor-quality records, and lead data cleansing, standardization, and first-time-right master creation approach.
• Experience in designing master data strategy, governance framework, policies, SOPs, approval workflows, and audit-ready controls.
• Ability to streamline master creation, identify repeat patterns, create standard EPC material and service lists, and systematically reduce MDM service request volume and turnaround time.
• Strong stakeholder management, training, team capability building, documentation, consensus creation, and end-to-end project ownership.

Role descriptions / Expectations from the Role

• Drive Master Data Governance for the EPC business and Manufacturing business with end-to-end ownership of Material Master, Service Master, BOM, PM Master, equipment-related master data, Business Partner (Vendor / Customer), and financial objects such as Cost Center, Profit Center, Internal Order, General Ledger, and Asset Master.
• Analyze the current master data landscape and define the Master Data strategy, framework, and policies for EPC and Manufacturing- related master data.
• Assess process gaps, duplicate records, description quality, approval issues, and service request trends, and design a practical governance model covering naming standards, codification rules, data quality controls, ownership matrix, SOPs, and approval logic.
• Lead material classification using UNSPSC or similar codification standards and ensure correct nounmodifier assignment, category / class, attributes, units of measure, and Level 2 / Level 3 support, including research references / URLs where needed.
• Standardize material and service creation by identifying repeat patterns and building reusable master templates and controlled standard lists for EPC use cases.
• Improve data quality by leading cleansing initiatives, eliminating duplicate records, standardizing short descriptions, and improving data integrity and consistency.
• Bring change in the working style within the MDM team to strengthen quality checks, knowledge, ownership, governance discipline, and first-time-right creation.
• Drive reduction in turnaround time and systematically reduce MDM service request counts through process simplification, standard catalogs, reusable master libraries, and better governance.
• Oversee EPC document-based master data creation using engineering references such as P&ID, GAD, SPIR, datasheets, equipment drawings, and EDMS records, including BOM and PM Master / asset hierarchy support.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, maintenance, operations, supply chain, finance, and digital stakeholders to build alignment, bring consensus, and obtain sign-off on standards, policies, and governance documents.
• Take all master data initiatives as structured projects and execute the work as an owner with clear deliverables, accountability, closure, and stakeholder sign-off.
• Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve team capability and create a stronger, sustainable MDM operating model.
