SB Energy

B Energy, also known as SB Energy Global, is a multinational renewable energy corporation with 9.4GW of contracted solar and wind projects in India and the United States, including over 2GW in operation. The company was formed in 2015 as a subsidiary of Japanese multinational conglomerate SoftBank Group Corp. Following the Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011, SoftBank Group Corp. Chairman Masayoshi Son invested in several utility-scale solar projects in Japan under that country’s feed-in-tariff scheme. Those projects remain under management by SB Energy Corp Japan. Building on this foundation, in 2015, SoftBank founded a new entity, SB Energy, led by CEO Raman Nanda to develop renewable energy projects globally. As of May 2020, SB Energy has 15 utility scale renewable energy projects totaling 7.7GW contracted in India (13 Solar, 1 Wind, 1 Hybrid) and 5 solar projects totaling 1.7GW contracted in the United States. SB Energy has also partnered with Intersect Power to develop an additional 2.9GW of early- to mid-stage solar and storage projects in California and Texas. SB Energy has made investments in renewable technology companies, including battery company ESS, Inc.
