• Abide by the Medical Staff By laws, Code of Medical Ethics, Rules and Regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department.
• Provide the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/ she are responsible.
• Responsible for the clinical care of the Patients requiring Medical Care according to generally accepted standards.
• To attend all outdoor patients as per timings of OPD for particular days and norms of the Hospital.
• To communicate and cooperate with other medical staff and colleagues who have patients in the hospital and wish to discuss other pertinent medical problems regarding patients in other areas of the hospital.
• To conduct rounds of all the patients admitted at least once in a day and discuss the plan of Management of particular patient with the in-house staff and patient relative.
• To Conduct All Invasive Neurology Procedures like- NERVE BIOPSY, MUSCLE BIOPSY, CSF (Spinal ) tap, intrathecal therapies.
• To give neuro-immunomodulatory therapies .
• To report EEG, Video-EEG, long term EEG, NERVE CONDUCTION STUDIES, ELECTROMYOGRAPHIC STUDIES, RNS/SSEP/SUDOMOTOR TEST .
• To plan and give botulinum toxin (BOTOX) to various neurological patients.
• To guide physiotherapist about necessary physiotherapy of their patients.
• To discuss and guide dietitian about managing diet of their patients.
• To do neurosonology procedures like Trans cranial Doppler study (TCD) , DSA (Digital substraction angiography ) and may perform Endovascular procedures in stroke like MT ( mechanical thrombectomy) - optional.
• To visit the patients admitted in ICU and discuss the plan of Care with neurosurgeon, intensivist. ( multidisciplinary approach)
• To attend all references inside hospital premises including neurology fitness before any procedure/ surgery.
• To be in charge specifically of medical inpatient and OPD Patients and Day Care Patients admitted under him/ her.
• Attend the patient on admission and Conduct Clinical Examinations
• Take detail history , do examination. Put initial treatment order, Suggest the necessary investigation and treatment.
• Check all the treatment sheets written by the MO's, make necessary changes and validate.
• Attend to all the patient's problems and emergencies. To keep the consultants informed in case of any emergency assistance. To carry out the necessary emergency procedures and if needed shift the patient to ICU in coordination with intensivist of particular ICU
• See whether all new/old admission, have been entered in the ward modules by the Resident doctor and the discharge summaries of all the patients are updated, so as to avoid any Delay, when the patient is due for discharge. To check the discharge summary thoroughly and put the date-signature on the same.
• Participates in the administrative organization of the Neurology Department and takes part in the development of its rules and regulations as well as standards of care and maintenance of its equipment (in conjunction with the Bio-engineering Department).
• To be On Call for the emergency day allotted and for Neurology References on respective day/night allotted to the Consultant.
• Carries out reviews and investigations on drugs, equipment, Physiological and pharmacological matters relevant to Medicine, provides and / or takes part in advisory service to the hospital.
