What would you do We are seeking a highly experienced Power Systems and Protection Engineer to support strategic transmission network projects for a leading utility in the Middle East. The role focuses on Inverter-Based Resource (IBR) integration, advanced protection engineering, fault investigations, electromagnetic transient studies, and protection system modernization.The successful candidate will independently deliver complex technical studies and advisory assignments covering renewable integration, HVDC and FACTS technologies, disturbance investigations, protection setting validation, and development of protection standards and philosophies. The role requires strong stakeholder management capabilities and the ability to represent the organization in technical discussions with utility clients, OEMs, consultants, and regulatory bodies.


What are we looking for
  • 815 years of experience in Power System Studies, Protection Engineering, or Utility Consulting.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering protection and fault analysis studies independently.
  • Practical experience with IBR modelling and renewable integration studies.
  • Experience working on transmission network, utility, EPC, OEM, or consulting assignments.
  • Exposure to HVDC, FACTS devices, digital substations, or advanced protection schemes is highly desirable.

    Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Deliver IBR modelling, EMT studies, fault analysis, and protection engineering assignments.
  • Validate protection settings, coordination studies, and relay performance across transmission networks.
  • Investigate fault events and assess protection system behavior under conventional and inverter-based fault conditions.
  • Review and improve protection philosophies, standards, and designs for HVDC, FACTS, synchronous condensers, and digital substations.
  • Evaluate protection and control strategies against international utility best practices.
  • Develop protection logic, settings methodologies, and engineering recommendations to enhance network reliability.
  • Lead technical discussions with client stakeholders and communicate study outcomes effectively.
  • Produce high-quality technical reports and provide engineering support throughout project delivery.
