Microsoft Azure
Overview
Citus Data, acquired by Microsoft in 2019, was the company behind Citus, an open-source extension to PostgreSQL that transforms Postgres into a distributed database. Citus enabled horizontally scaling PostgreSQL for demanding applications, providing real-time analytics and high-performance transactional workloads. While the company 'Citus Research LLP' may have existed prior to the acquisition or be a related entity, the primary focus of the name now relates to the technology and its integration within Microsoft's Azure ecosystem.
