IT infrastructure - Server Administrator

Role & responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and support Windows Server and Linux server environments.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of VMware virtual machines (VMs), including VM health, resource utilization, connectivity, and performance issues.
• Perform OS and application patching activities for Windows and Linux servers, including patch assessment, deployment, validation, troubleshooting, and compliance reporting as per maintenance schedules and change management processes.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and monitoring of SAN/NAS storage systems, including storage connectivity, LUN accessibility, disk utilization, and performance-related issues.
• Coordinate with Storage OEMs for advanced troubleshooting, issue resolution, firmware updates, and required support activities.
• Manage and monitor backup operations using third-party backup tools, including backup job scheduling, execution monitoring, failure troubleshooting, and restoration activities
• Coordinate with the third-party Data Center team for hardware-related activities, server access, rack management, and incident resolution.
• Coordinate with various internal and external teams during Disaster Recovery (DR) activities, including DR planning, execution, testing, validation, and recovery procedures.
• Participate in Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT) activities for IT infrastructure, including vulnerability remediation, security hardening, risk mitigation, and coordination with security teams and external auditors
• Monitor and maintain Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) to ensure optimal application availability and performance.
• Coordinate with the RIMS team for infrastructure monitoring, incident management, and problem resolution.
• Monitor server health, disk utilization, event logs, and system performance.
• Maintain documentation for server configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational activities.
• Work with application teams to support application file deployments in IIS, upgrades, and production issues.
• Database script deployment in Microsoft SQL databases, PostgreSQL, etc
• Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and IT operational standards.
• Coordinate with ISPs and network service providers for internet connectivity, leased line issues, bandwidth management, incident resolution, and service restoration.

Preferred candidate profile

• 8-10 years of experience in Windows Server, VMware, and SAN storage administration

Strong expertise in:

• Windows Server OS (2012/2016/2019/2022)
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy
• VMware ESXi, vCenter, vSphere
• Experience working with RIMS / managed service providers
• Microsoft IIS, Microsoft SQL Server
• Knowledge of ITIL processes (Incident, Problem, Change Management)
• Experience with Third party backup tool
