Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented IP Associate with a strong background in Chemistry and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) to join our growing team in the pharmaceutical sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and protecting the company s intellectual property assets, particularly in the areas of drug development and innovation. This role involves close collaboration with R&D, legal, and regulatory teams to ensure alignment of IP strategy with business goals.
Key Responsibilities:Patent Drafting & Filing

Draft and file patent applications in India and internationally (PCT, USPTO, EPO, etc.).

Prepare technical documents and claims in coordination with inventors and R&D personnel.
Patent Prosecution

Manage the prosecution of filed patents, responding to office actions, and coordinating with external agents and patent offices globally.

Ensure timely follow-up and compliance with deadlines for patent applications.
Patentability, FTO & Prior Art Searches

Conduct comprehensive patentability assessments, Freedom to Operate (FTO) analyses, and prior art searches using various databases and tools (e.g., Derwent, PatBase, Orbit).

Interpret search results and prepare reports to support R&D and regulatory decisions.
Collaboration & Strategic Input

Work closely with R&D teams to identify and capture innovations for IP protection.

Provide strategic input on IP matters in product development and lifecycle management.

Liaise with external counsel and internal stakeholders to align legal and scientific perspectives.
IP Database Management & Compliance

Maintain and update IP databases and docketing systems to track all IP assets and deadlines.

Ensure full compliance with filing and prosecution requirements across jurisdictions.
Competitive Landscape Monitoring

Continuously monitor the IP landscape and competitor filings to identify opportunities and threats.

Provide regular updates and insights to management and R&D teams.
Training & Compliance Support

Support internal IP awareness initiatives, training sessions, and SOPs for R&D teams.

Ensure IP compliance across all stages of R&D, including documentation and lab practices.

Strong understanding of Indian and international patent laws (US, EP, PCT).

Experience in pharmaceutical or chemical patent drafting and prosecution.

Proficient in IP search databases and analytical tools.

Excellent communication, legal writing, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate across departments.

An LLB or diploma in IPR is a strong advantage.
Qualification: M.Sc. in Chemistry; LLB preferred
