Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and control SMS inventory of ferroalloys, alloys, electrodes, fluxes, refractories, and other consumables.
- Maintain heat-wise material consumption and reconcile actual consumption against standard/BOM norms.
- Prepare daily, shift-wise, weekly, and monthly MIS reports for production, material consumption, inventory, yield, and cost.
- Track stock levels, consumption trends, shortages, excess inventory, and material variances.
- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Purchase, Quality, Planning, and Finance for smooth material availability and reconciliation.
- Monitor alloy and ferroalloy consumption against steel grade chemistry and production requirements.
- Analyze material variances and identify opportunities for cost reduction and inventory optimization.
- Maintain accurate records of opening stock, receipts, consumption, closing stock, and physical inventory.
- Support monthly stock verification and reconciliation with ERP/system records.
- Ensure timely availability of critical SMS materials to avoid production delays.
- Develop and maintain Excel-based dashboards, trackers, and management reports.
- Ensure data accuracy and timely submission of MIS to management.
- Identify process gaps and implement improvements in inventory control, reporting, and material management.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Metallurgy, Mechanical, Production, or related field.
- Experience in Steel Plant/SMS/Alloy Steel Manufacturing preferred.
- Good knowledge of ferroalloys, alloy additions, steel grades, and SMS consumables.
- Strong skills in MS Excel, MIS, inventory reconciliation, and data analysis.
- Experience with ERP/SAP will be an advantage.
- Good coordination, analytical, and communication skills.
- Candidates with experience in SMS inventory, alloy management, or production MIS will be preferred.
