Hyundai Precison Industry, founded in 1977, made a bigger re-start in July 1999 with its new name, Hyundai Rotem Company as the result of the Government Big Deal No.1 that merged the railway vehicle business of Hyundai Precision Industry, Hanjin Heavy Industries & Construction, and Daewoo Heavy Industries & Machinery in order to reinforce the nation's competitiveness in the global railway market. Then in 2001, Hyundai Rotem Company was incorporated into Hyundai Motor Group, and has become one of the global top-notch total railway systems providers in a short period of time based on its world-class technology and quality. Not saitsfied, we have evolved into a total heavy industry company; as the nation's only tank maker, we have also solidified our position as a defense systems company by developing and producing various tanks, including the K1, the nation's first main battle tank and the K1A1, the main battle tank of the Korean army, and also stretched our business to the plant and machinery industry for building infrastructures for steelmaking, automobile and power generation. In order to proactively respond to the growing global demand and changing market environment, Hyundai Rotem Company has spurred the commercialization of cutting-edge green railway vehicles, such as magnetically levitated vehicles and hybrid low-floor trams, while striving to penetrate into the global market for system engineering and electrical equipment and turnkey business including maintenance and operation. Our defense division, selected one of the global top 100 defense companies, has succeeded in developing the K2 MBT, one of the world's most powerful tanks, and is about to deploy the model in the nation. Recognized for our technical excellence at home and abroad as a leading tank maker, we also won a contract for technical support for the development of Turkish tanks, opening a new opportunity to enter the global market. Hyundai Rotem is also solidifying its position as a global engineering company by carrying out various turnkey projects for steelmaking, automotive, environment and generation facilities on the basis of EPC system. Even at this moment, we are making our enthusiastic efforts to make the leap toward the world's best total heavy industry company. Hyundai Rotem Company was listed on the Korean stock market on October 30, 2013. With the listing, we are determined to further reinforce the competitiveness of our respective division. The Railway Division plans to contribute to the development of the nation's railway industry based on its experience in the domestic market, while continuing to expand its presence to emerging overseas markets to become a global brand. The Defense Division plans to realize continuous growth by developing future unmanned weapon systems, such as unmanned armored combat vehicles and small field robots, and expanding its aerospace future weapon system business. Lastly, the Plant Division is determined to make the leap into a global top-notch heavy industry company leading the global market by expanding the customer base of the business and the EPC business based on manufacturing.
