Role & responsibilities


Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing & Procurement

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for battery cells, BMS, PCS, power electronics, thermal systems, enclosures, EMS, and other critical BESS components.

• Identify and develop global and domestic suppliers to optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

• Lead supplier selection, commercial negotiations, long-term agreements, and supplier performance management.

• Drive localization and alternate source development in line with business and regulatory requirements. Supply Chain Management (SCM)

• Ensure uninterrupted material availability through effective planning, supplier capacity management, and risk mitigation. • Drive inventory optimization, working capital improvement, and supply continuity plans. • Manage supply chain risks related to critical commodities, logistics, and geopolitical factors. Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA / STA) • Lead supplier qualification, audits, APQP/PPAP processes, capability assessments, and supplier development initiatives. • Drive supplier quality, delivery performance, and continuous improvement programs to meet business and customer expectations. Contract Management & Commercial Excellence • Negotiate and manage supply agreements, commercial contracts, pricing frameworks, and claims management. • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations while mitigating commercial, legal, and supply risks. • Drive annual cost reduction, should-costing, VA/VE, and productivity improvement initiatives. Indirect Procurement & Capex Sourcing • Lead procurement of Capex, plant equipment, tooling, MRO, logistics, facilities, IT infrastructure, and professional services. • Establish category strategies and governance for indirect spend management. Import, Export & Logistics • Manage global sourcing operations, customs compliance, DGFT regulations, and import-export requirements. • Optimize logistics cost, lead times, and freight management while ensuring compliance with battery transportation regulations. New Product Development & Business Support • Support new product development and customer program launches from sourcing through SOP. • Ensure supplier readiness for capacity, quality, cost, and delivery requirements. • Partner closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Program Management teams. Team Leadership • Build and lead a high-performing Procurement, SCM, and Supplier Quality organization. • Develop capability, succession, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) • Annual Procurement Savings & Cost Reduction • Localization Achievement • Supplier OTIF & Supplier PPM • Inventory Turns & Working Capital • Material Availability • Contract Compliance & Risk Mitigation • Logistics Cost Optimization • Supplier Development & Alternate Source Creation • New Product Launch Readiness Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Industrial). • MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain, Operations, or Finance preferred. Experience • 15-20 years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, SCM, Supplier Quality, and Commercial Management. • Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing cross-functional procurement and supply chain teams. • Experience in Battery Manufacturing, BESS, EV Components, Power Electronics, Renewable Energy, Electrical Equipment, Automotive Tier-1/OEM preferred.
