General Manager - Mining - Sierra Leone - West Africa

Role & responsibilities

• Lead and manage all mining operations, including production, maintenance, processing, logistics, and administration.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve production and financial targets.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and statutory regulations.
• Manage mine planning, budgeting, cost control, and operational performance.
• Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams to drive productivity and operational excellence.
• Coordinate with government authorities, local communities, and key stakeholders.
• Monitor equipment utilization and maintenance to maximize operational efficiency.
• Prepare and present operational reports to senior management.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best mining practices.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and international mining standards

Preferred candidate profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mineral Processing, or a related discipline. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
• 1215 years of experience in the mining industry, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Prior work experience in African mining operations is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of open-pit mining operations, mine planning, HSE standards, and mining regulations.
• Proven leadership, decision-making, and people management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to speak Tamil is mandatory.
• Willingness to relocate and work in Sierra Leone, West Africa.
