Job Description
About Pump Academy Private Limited
Pump Academy Private Limited (PAPL) is building iPUMPNET India's most advanced Industrial IIoT platform for intelligent monitoring, optimization, and predictive analytics of pumping infrastructure across water utilities, wastewater systems, and large industrial facilities.
iPUMPNET is a full-stack IIoT solution that spans field instrumentation, industrial data acquisition hardware, edge gateways, cloud data platforms, AI/ML analytics, and command-centre visualization. The platform is deployed at scale across major utilities including BWSSB and BMC pumping stations, and is set for exponential national and international growth.
PAPL's technology organization includes four specialized departments: AI/ML, Hardware & Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, and IT Infrastructure & Platform Operations all collaborating to deliver a best-in-class industrial intelligence platform.
We are at an inflection point: transitioning the iPUMPNET platform to a robust, cloud-native SaaS architecture capable of serving hundreds of utilities and industrial customers and we need a world-class Enterprise Architect to lead this transformation.
The Role
This is a rare opportunity to be the founding architecture voice of a fast-growing industrial technology company. As Enterprise Architect, you will own the end-to-end technical vision for migrating and scaling the iPUMPNET platform to a cloud-native, data-intensive, AI-powered SaaS product. You will work directly with PAPL's leadership and cross-functional technology teams to define the architecture blueprint that will take iPUMPNET from a high-performing on-premise/hybrid deployment to one of the world's leading IIoT platforms for pumping infrastructure.
This role demands deep expertise in cloud architecture, industrial IoT systems, data platform design, artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep analytics, data visualization and a strategic mindset to help PAPL scale its business to the next order of magnitude. You will set standards, govern technical decisions, align architecture to business outcomes, and actively mentor engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cloud Migration Strategy & Execution
Define and own the comprehensive cloud migration roadmap for the iPUMPNET platform — from current hybrid/on-premise deployments to a fully cloud-native architecture.
Architect a multi-tenant SaaS platform capable of supporting cloud deployments, enterprise LAN deployments, and edge-to-cloud hybrid models.
Scale and govern the Azure cloud platform aligned to iPUMPNET's industrial data requirements, AI/ML workloads, and partner ecosystem.
Establish reference architectures for cloud onboarding of new utilities and industrial customers with standardized, automated provisioning.
2. IIoT Platform Architecture
Design the end-to-end platform architecture spanning the full iPUMPNET technology stack:
– Field sensors, SCADA, and industrial data acquisition hardware
– Edge gateway processing and AI-enabled edge analytics
– Industrial data ingestion pipelines and communication layers (MQTT, Modbus, REST, RS-485)
– Cloud data platform, time-series databases, and data lake architecture
– AI/ML analytics engine, digital twin infrastructure, and predictive models
– Web dashboards and command-centre visualization
Define integration standards between hardware, firmware, software, and cloud layers across PAPL's four technology departments.
Architect a scalable data lake and time-series data management platform for AI/ML model training, predictive maintenance, pump scheduling optimization, and energy analytics.
3. Deep Analytics & AI/ML Architecture
Design the data architecture required to support advanced analytics, including pump efficiency analysis, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, energy optimization, and digital twin simulation.
Define the data engineering pipeline architecture for ingesting, processing, and curating large-scale, real-time industrial data from hundreds of pumping stations.
Collaborate with the AI/ML team to architect model deployment pipelines, AIOps/MLOps infrastructure, and model versioning systems on cloud.
Collaborate with the Software Engineering team to develop and deploy best practices and industry standards around DevOps, DevSecOps
Architect the digital twin infrastructure aligned to Bentley iTwin and related simulation technologies.
4. Enterprise Architecture Governance
Establish and maintain an enterprise architecture framework aligned to industry best practices (TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent).
Define architecture principles, design patterns, standards, and guardrails across all technology departments.
Lead Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) and govern all major technical decisions across software, AI/ML, hardware integration, and infrastructure.
Evaluate and recommend third-party platforms, tools, and technology partners including analytics platforms, vibration analytics systems, and predictive analytics tools.
Drive technology standardization to enable automated, scalable onboarding of new customers via sensor templates and standardized data schemas.
5. Scalability, Security & Reliability
Architect for extreme scale — designing systems capable of ingesting and processing real-time data from hundreds to thousands of pumping stations globally.
Define cybersecurity architecture for industrial IoT environments, addressing device security, data encryption, network segmentation, and cloud access controls.
Design high-availability, fault-tolerant architectures for mission-critical pumping infrastructure monitoring.
Establish disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity architecture.
Aware of PAPL’s ISO-aligned management systems: Quality Management System (QMS – ISO 9001), Environmental Management System (EMS – ISO 14001), Information Security Management System (ISMS – ISO 27001), and Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS – ISO 45001).
6. Business Growth & Technology Strategy
Act as a senior technology thought leader, contributing directly to PAPL's product strategy, investor narratives, and technology roadmap.
Identify architectural enablers for new revenue streams, new geographies, and new customer segments.
Contribute to patent applications, technical research, industry conferences, and PAPL's positioning as an IIoT innovation leader.
Assess and advise on standards compliance including ISO and CMMI frameworks.
7. Team Leadership & Mentoring
Collaborate deeply with the heads of AI/ML, Hardware & Embedded Systems, Software Engineering, and IT Infrastructure departments.
Mentor senior engineers and technical leads, elevating architecture maturity across PAPL's technology organization.
Translate complex architecture decisions into clear, actionable guidance for engineering teams.
