Job Description
- Proficient in CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE. Deep understanding of Top-Down assembly design, Skeleton modeling, Part Design, and Generative Shape Design (GSD) modules.
- Solid grasp of thermal management fundamentals, fluid mechanics, and engine cooling loop dynamics.
- Exceptional knowledge of GDT symbols and standard drafting practices.
- Familiarity with automotive fabrication methods relevant to cooling loops (e.g., tube bending, rubber hose extrusion, plastic molding, brazing).
Requirements:
- Develop high-precision 3D parametric models, complex surface geometries, and large assembly layouts in CATIA for cooling components (including radiators, water pumps, coolant pipes/hoses, thermostats, expansion tanks, and fan shrouds).
- Conduct digital mock-up (DMU) packaging reviews within the engine bay. Execute clash detection, interference checks, and clearance analysis to ensure zero physical part collisions during dynamic vehicle operation.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) per ASME/ISO standards to validate fit and function. Perform basic tolerance stack-up analysis on complex assemblies.
- Collaborate closely with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and thermal analysis teams to iterate designs based on flow, pressure drop, and thermal performance results.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) rules, specifically focusing on plastic injection molding, aluminum casting, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Generate and release complete 2D production drawings. Build and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) structures within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems like Teamcenter or Enovia.
- Actively participate in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and design verification planning (DVPR).
