About Us
Established in 1978, UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. It works with governments, local authorities, civil society organizations, and the private sector to improve the living conditions of urban populations, particularly the poor and marginalized. UN-Habitat supports countries in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda, a global roadmap for sustainable urban development, and contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 11 on sustainable cities and communities.
