International Aero Engines
International Aero Engines (IAE) is a multinational aerospace engine manufacturer and joint venture primarily known for developing and producing the V2500 turbofan engine. This engine powers various models of the Airbus A320 family of aircraft, making IAE a key player in the commercial aviation engine market. The consortium was formed to combine the expertise and resources of leading global aerospace companies to develop a competitive engine for the 150-seat aircraft market.
About Us
- International Aero Engines was established in 1983 as a joint venture to design, manufacture, sell, and service the V2500 engine. - Its founding shareholders included Pratt & Whitney (USA), Rolls-Royce plc (UK), Japanese Aero Engine Corporation (Japan, a consortium of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries), and MTU Aero Engines (Germany). - FiatAvio (Italy) was also an original member but later withdrew. - The unique collaborative structure allows IAE to leverage the individual strengths, advanced technologies, and global reach of its parent companies in engine development, production, sales, and aftermarket support, offering a robust solution for single-aisle aircraft.
