The Army Institute of Law (AIL) is a premier educational institution established in 1999 by the Indian Army under the aegis of the Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). It is dedicated to providing quality legal education to the wards of Army personnel and ex-servicemen, with a limited percentage of seats also open to civilian candidates. Affiliated with Punjabi University, Patiala, and approved by the Bar Council of India, AIL is recognized for its disciplined academic environment and holistic development approach.

A medium-sized academic institution, the Army Institute of Law accommodates approximately 400-500 undergraduate students (across five batches of the BA LLB program) and a cohort of LLM students, supported by a dedicated faculty and administrative staff.

- Established to fulfill the need for a professional college for the dependants of serving and retired Army personnel, AIL began its journey in Patiala before moving to its current permanent campus in Mohali, Punjab, in 2003. - The institute aims to create ethical and socially responsible legal professionals by offering a rigorous curriculum combined with a strong emphasis on co-curricular activities, moot court competitions, and practical training. - Its foundation is rooted in the values of the Indian Army, promoting discipline, integrity, and a commitment to justice.
