The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is an international financial institution founded in 1991. It invests in projects that contribute to the transition to market economies and the promotion of private and entrepreneurial activity. The EBRD operates in countries from Central Europe to Central Asia, and the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean. It is owned by 74 countries, as well as the European Union and the European Investment Bank.
