Assistant Category Manager - Fruits & Vegetables

About the role:

• The Assistant Category Manager for Fruits & Vegetables will support end-to-end category operations, ensuring product availability, strong vendor performance,
• competitive pricing, and smooth day-to-day execution.
• The role requires strong negotiation skills, high integrity, and a hands-on approach to managing fill rates, stock movement, and supplier relationships. Similar fresh-category roles commonly focus on sourcing, availability monitoring, assortment, pricing, margins, and operational execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain fill rates and reduce stock-outs through proactive replenishment and close coordination with vendors and operations teams.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage vendors and suppliers for fresh produce.
• Negotiate pricing, quality, commercial terms, service levels, and supply commitments.
• Monitor inventory levels, wastage, ageing, and shrinkage to ensure efficient category performance.

Required Skills

• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
• Good understanding of fresh produce operations and daily replenishment.
• Ability to manage fill rates, availability, and stock planning.
