Job Description Must have: About the Role Info We are looking for an AS/400 (IBM iSeries) Software Engineer to design, develop, debug, and support applications on the IBM i platform. You will work across the full development lifecycle analysis, design, coding, testing, and production deployment — while providing ongoing application support to meet client SLAs. Prior exposure to manual/functional testing is a strong plus, as the role involves close collaboration with QA and business teams. Key Responsibilities Must Have Develop and enhance applications on the AS/400 (IBM i) platform using RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, and CL/400. Must Have Design and modify programs, display files, and report files to accommodate changing business and database requirements. Must Have Query and analyze data in DB2 using SQL to investigate issues and extract insights. Must Have Perform in-depth root cause analysis on defects and service requests logged by clients, and deliver timely fixes. Must Have Provide batch support across development, testing, and production environments. Must Have Carry out unit testing, integration testing, and support production deployments. Must Have Prepare technical specification documents, workflow designs, and production support handover documentation. Must Have Perform regular system maintenance and health checks, and automate housekeeping tasks where possible. Must Have Follow established change management and incident management processes. Must Have Work to meet and maintain client Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Required Skills & Qualifications Must Have 3–5 years of overall IT experience, with hands-on AS/400 development and support experience. Must Have Strong programming skills in RPGLE, RPG/400, CLLE, and CL/400 (ILE concepts). Must Have Proficiency in DB2 and writing SQL for data analysis. Must Have Experience with AS/400 development tools: SEU, SDA, RLU, and PDM. Must Have Solid understanding of debugging techniques, unit testing, and test-case design. Must Have Familiarity with ITSM/ticketing tools such as Jira. Must Have Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electronics & Communication, Computer Science, Must Have IT, or a related field). Preferred / Nice-to-Have Good to Have Experience in manual, functional, regression, and smoke testing. Good to Have Exposure to change management, incident management, and production support in an SLA-driven environment. Good to Have Domain experience in banking/financial services (e.g., cheque/transaction processing, accounts payable/receivable, inventory management) or insurance (policy administration). Good to Have Experience with payment application testing/certification (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, etc.) is a plus. Good to Have Ability to create user manuals and technical documentation for end users.
