Knowledge/ Abilities/ Skills required
Types of welding and their pros and cons.
Type of chamfers and configuration required on the parts before welding
Prerequisites for good welding
Steady hand and good coordination of hand and eye
Noticing of changes in the molten metal flow
Number of passes of welding runs equired
Defects in welding and their corrective actions
Tests required to know good quality of weld
Ability to identify visually quality of weld
Safety equipment for welding
Quality procedure for welding
Should be well aware of details of WPS document and PQR related to welding process.
Important Hygiene factors
a) Cleanliness – Need to clean by self, the entire area under his operation.
b) Sincerity and Integrity
c) Punctuality – To be at work place 10 mins before the work timing.
d) Flexibility – Sharing other’s work when having less work on hand.
e) Efficiency
- Measure time required for one welding.
- Hourly and Daily monitoring of the welding done and its reporting.
- Working at 100% efficiency.
- Think alternatives to reduce the time per welding.
- Think how better and better quality welding can be done.
f) Multi Skilling – Learning related other work areas, to help flexibility and efficiency.
g) Communication - Need to be highly communicative.
Education
a) ITI in Welding plus
b) MIG welder certification/ Boiler grade welding quality certification.
Experience
a) 3-4 Years experience.
b) Should come with photos and videos of welding done for various critical applications like boiler parts welding.
CTC – To suit the skill and experience.
