Job Description
Core roles and responsibilities
- Reservations and Ticketing:
- Book international and domestic flights and other travel-related services using Global Distribution Systems (GDS) like Amadeus, Sabre, or Galileo, as well as Low-Cost Carrier (LCC) airline systems.
- Issue and manage tickets, including modifications and cancellations, applying fare rules and restrictions correctly.
- Manage payments, deposits, and refunds accurately.
- Customer Service and Support:
- Answer phone calls and communicate with clients via phone, email, or in-person to address inquiries and provide information.
- Co-coordinate directly with retail and corporate guests, providing updates and reverting on emails promptly.
- Provide expert advice on destinations, local customs, travel regulations, visa requirements, and health/safety guidelines.
- Handle and resolve complaints and unforeseen problems during travel, like delays, cancellations, or booking mistakes.
- Provide ongoing support and assistance before, during, and after trips.
- Build and maintain relationships with clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.
- Corporate Travel Management (for corporate-focused roles):
- Possess knowledge of travel processes and policies specific to various corporate clients.
- Negotiate with airlines, hotels, and vendors to secure the best deals and corporate rates.
- Ensure compliance with corporate travel policies and assist employees in adhering to guidelines.
- Track expenses and travel spend, providing data-driven insights to optimize corporate travel programs.
- Manage travel for groups, conferences, and retreats.
Required skills and qualifications
- Proficiency in GDS systems (e.g., Amadeus, Sabre, Galileo) and LCC platforms for bookings and ticketing.
- Strong knowledge of international and domestic travel destinations, regulations, and industry trends.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with clients, vendors, and colleagues.
- Customer-oriented approach with exceptional customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in managing bookings, tickets, and travel documents.
- Problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected situations during travel.
- Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple client bookings and tasks.
- Technical aptitude and proficiency in travel booking software, reservation systems, and potentially AI tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- A degree or diploma in Hospitality, Travel, Tourism, Business, or a related field is preferred, along with certifications like a Certified Travel Associate (CTA) or GDS certification. Previous experience as a travel consultant or in a similar customer-facing role is often required.
