Job Description
Padme is looking for a Textile Designer who can blend contemporary aesthetics with handcrafted, handloom-rooted design. The role focuses on sarees and apparel created through traditional weaving techniques, modern textures, and thoughtful textile innovation.
Key Responsibilities-
Design original prints, motifs, patterns, and weaves for sarees and apparel aligned with Padme s aesthetic.

Develop seasonal collections, moodboards, color stories, and direction.

Create print separations, repeats, colorways, and technical specs for sampling.

Work directly with handloom weavers, artisans, and mills to translate concepts into production-ready fabrics.

Ensure designs consider drape, fall, handfeel, and weaving feasibility, especially for sarees.

Explore fabrics like cotton, linen, cotton-silk, zari blends, and other handloom-based materials.

Oversee sampling, ensure quality standards, and maintain design documentation.

Stay updated with trends in handloom, sustainable fashion, and contemporary ethnicwear.

Degree in Textile Design from a premium institute (NID, NIFT preferred) with strong specialization in textiles.

2 5 years of experience in textile or apparel design with a strong focus on sarees/ethnic wear.

Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CAD tools for textile and print design.

Strong understanding of weaving techniques, printing, dyeing, jacquard, zari work, and handloom processes.

Sharp sense of texture, detail, color harmony, and fabric behavior.

Ability to work closely with artisans, production teams, and internal design teams.

Experience working directly with handloom clusters, weaving communities, or craft-led projects.

Knowledge of sustainable textile practices and ethical sourcing.
