Position: Test Engineer – ATE Sr. Mechanical Engineer
Location: Kochi
Experience: 3–8 Years (preferred)
Job Summary
We are looking for an ATE Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and support Automated Test Equipment (ATE), Functional Test Fixtures, and mechanical assemblies used for PCB and electronic product testing. The candidate will work closely with electrical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams to deliver reliable and cost-effective test solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design ATE fixtures, bed-of-nails fixtures, and mechanical assemblies for PCB testing.
- Develop 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks or NX CA
- Develop 3D models and manufacturing drawings using CAD software such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
- Design fixture components including base plates, pressure plates, enclosures, mounting brackets, and support structures.
- Select and integrate standard components such as pogo pins, pneumatic cylinders, toggle clamps, sensors, bearings, and linear guides.
- Define dimensional tolerances, GD&T, and manufacturing requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for fabrication, machining, and assembly activities.
- Prepare BOMs, assembly drawings, and technical documentation.
- Support fixture assembly, debugging, validation, and production release.
- Work with electrical and software teams to ensure proper integration of the ATE system.
- Investigate fixture failures and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and ESD requirements.
- Support DFM/DFT reviews and production test strategy discussions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience in ATE fixture design, FCT fixtures, ICT fixtures, or automation systems.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD, or similar CAD tools.
- Knowledge of sheet metal, machined parts, and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical assemblies.
- Experience with pneumatic systems, linear motion components, and sensors.
- Familiarity with PCB handling, test fixtures, and electronic manufacturing environments.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of PCB test methodologies such as ICT, FCT, and boundary scan.
- Experience in selecting pogo pins, connectors, and test interfaces.
- Familiarity with aluminum extrusion structures and electrical enclosures.
- Experience with PLM, PDM, and BOM management.
