LET'S TALK ABOUT YOU
You are a skilled Test Automation Expert with a passion for advancing the reliability and quality of substation automation software. You thrive in environments where rigorous testing, automation frameworks, and continuous improvement are essential. You translate complex requirements into robust automated test scenarios and collaborate closely with development, product, and quality teams to ensure delivery of high-integrity solutions for grid and substation automation.
A Snapshot of Your Day Your day begins by reviewing new feature requirements and updating automated test scripts to reflect the latest changes. You sync with software developers to clarify technical details and ensure test coverage for critical modules. Before lunch, you execute automated test suites, analyze results, and report defects using Solution Manager or equivalent tools. In the afternoon, you participate in sprint planning, refine test data management strategies, and contribute to functional and quality reviews. You close the day by optimizing test automation frameworks and sharing insights with the team to drive continuous improvement.
How You'll Make an Impact Test Automation Strategy & Execution - Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts for substation automation software, ensuring coverage of key functional and non-functional requirements.
- Collaborate with functional teams to identify test scenarios, set up test data, and document detailed test steps.
- Integrate test automation into CI/CD pipelines and support on-demand test cycles for rapid validation.
- Track test script development progress and execution status, maintaining transparent reporting in Solution Manager and other tools.
- Analyze test results, identify defects, and work with development teams to ensure timely resolution and retesting.
- Prepare and present detailed test reports for review by stakeholders, including live demonstrations of automated scenarios.
- Adopt and enhance automation frameworks (e.g., TOSCA, Worksoft) and ensure adherence to best practices and standards.
- Support tool setup, configuration, and license management for the automation team.
- Contribute to the evolution of automation strategies and scripting handbooks.
- Act as a central coordination point between test automation, development, and functional teams.
- Participate in governance meetings, quality reviews, and sprint retrospectives to drive improvements in test coverage and efficiency.
- Mentor junior team members and share expertise in automation best practices.
- Manage test data creation and scenario execution documentation.
- Ensure functional teams provide necessary data and steps for automation, and develop scripts for master data creation as needed.
- Experience: 5+ years in test automation for industrial or grid automation software projects, with hands-on expertise in automation frameworks and tools.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages, test automation tools (TOSCA, Worksoft, or similar), and integration with CI/CD environments.
- Domain Knowledge: Understanding of substation automation concepts, protocols (IEC 61850, IEC 104, DNP3), and grid technologies is a strong plus.
- Collaboration: Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; comfortable working in cross-functional teams.
- Analytics: Familiarity with test dashboards, reporting tools, and data-driven optimization.
- Methodologies: Exposure to agile development, PLM stage-gates, and structured test governance processes.
- Language Proficiency: Fluency in English; German is a plus.
You will join a collaborative software development and test automation team working closely with Grid Technologies and regional engineering organizations. The team operates within structured PLM and test governance frameworks, focused on delivering robust, scalable, and innovative substation automation solutions. Strong engagement with regional and global stakeholders ensures that your work directly contributes to the reliability and advancement of modern grid infrastructure.
