Job Description

Position: Sustainability & ESG Associate / Analyst

Experience Level: 3 years

Location: Jindal Steel Ltd, Angul

Department: Environment Management Dept

Reports To: Head EMD


Key Responsibilities

1. Sustainability & ESG Reporting

• Assist in the data collection, validation, and drafting of the Business Responsibility and Sustainability

Report (BRSR) as per SEBI mandates.

• Support the compilation and preparation of sustainability disclosures in alignment with global

frameworks, primarily the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), as well as CDP and DJSI where applicable.

• Coordinate with cross-functional internal teams (HR, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance) to streamline

ESG data pipelines.

2. GHG Emissions, Carbon Accounting, CBAM reporting

• Assist in calculating the organization's Greenhouse Gas (GHG) footprint covering Scope 1, Scope 2, and

Scope 3 emissions using standard methodologies (e.g., GHG Protocol).

• Maintain and update carbon accounting spreadsheets or software platforms to ensure data audit-

readiness.

• Track, compile, and monitor embedded emissions data required for compliance with the EUs Carbon

Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).

• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain teams to ensure timely reporting and data accuracy for

export-bound commodities.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Science, Energy Management, Sustainable

Development, Environmental Engineering.

• Experience: Upto 3 years of professional experience handling corporate sustainability, ESG research, or

environmental consulting.

• Core Technical Knowledge:

  • Fundamental understanding of ESG concepts and why they matter to businesses and investors.
  • Familiarity with standard frameworks and regulations: BRSR, GRI, and GHG Protocol.
  • Baseline understanding or strong eagerness to master CBAM guidelines and Scope 3 supply

chain mapping.


• Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data cleaning, formulas, and VLOOKUPs) as

carbon accounting heavily relies on robust data manipulation.

• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills needed for interviewing internal

stakeholders and writing formal reports.
