Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE)

Role & responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of suppliers for metal inserts, screws, compression limiters, and similar bought-out parts.
• Coordinate purchase order follow-up with suppliers in alignment with planning and procurement requirements.
• Conduct incoming and in-process inspections at supplier sites and/or internal receiving points.
• Verify product conformity against drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions for rejected or non-conforming material.
• Perform supplier audits, supplier visits, and process follow-ups to monitor capability and compliance.
• Support supplier development initiatives to improve quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
• Maintain records of inspections, supplier performance, NCRs, and corrective actions.
• Work closely with procurement, engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve issues quickly.
• Travel within India to supplier locations as needed for inspections, escalations, and development work.
• Supplier quality engineer responsibilities typically include supplier assessments, quality issue resolution, monitoring supplier performance, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.

• Prepare audit and inspection reports.
• Monitoring of all statutory compliance related to Service Tax or vendor TDS/GST and other related law.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 38 years of experience in Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, or Manufacturing Quality.
• Good understanding of technical drawings, tolerances, gauges, and inspection methods.
• Experience in Molding industry / Tooling / Automotive industry.
• Experience with mechanical components, fasteners, or metal inserts.
• Ability to read & interpret engineering drawings, specifications and use basic inspection tools.
• Strong communication, negotiation, problem solving, and follow-up skills.
• Willingness to travel frequently within India.
