Staff Software Engineer

About the role:

• SailPoint is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Feature teams for the Identity product. In this role, you are responsible for increasing the quality of Identity and developing solutions to customer reported issues. You are responsible for writing quality code in addition to debugging complex problems. You will work closely with the broader Engineering team, as well as Support, and occasionally communicate directly with customers to assist in L3 Support escalations. We re looking for candidates with a strong work ethic who can work with a team of very experienced Software Engineers and Testers. Lack of experience in a particular technology/platform is not a showstopper if there is a skill of immediate usefulness, as well as a commitment to continual learning.

What success looks like in the role

Within the first 30 days you will:

• Onboard into your new role, get familiar with our Identity product offering and technology stack.
• Proactively meet peers in Engineering and Support, and set up your test and development environment.
• Deeply understand the process for handling customer-reported issues and L3 Support escalations.

By 90 days:

• Successfully debug complex problems and develop high-quality solutions for customer-reported issues.
• Proactively collaborate with other software development engineers for problem reproduction and resolution.
• Begin contributing to the development and integration of UI components and REST-based web services alongside your team.

By 6 months:

• Consistently deliver quality code and independently handle complex L3 escalations, occasionally communicating directly with customers.
• Serve as a reliable expert on the Feature team, sharing knowledge and demonstrating a commitment to continual learning.
• Contribute to the improvement of unit tests and overall product quality to prevent future escalations.
