Staff Software Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Drive the technical strategy, architecture, and engineering roadmap for complex products and platforms.
• Design and build scalable, highly available, secure, and high-performance software systems.
• Own end-to-end technical solutions from requirements and system design through development, deployment, and production operations.
• Lead architecture and design decisions across distributed systems, microservices, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, and integrations.
• Solve complex technical problems involving scalability, reliability, performance, security, and system resilience.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams and influence engineering standards and best practices.
• Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, DevOps, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
• Conduct architecture reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and technical assessments.
• Establish best practices for software development, testing, CI/CD, observability, security, and production reliability.
• Mentor Senior Engineers, Tech Leads, and other engineers and help raise the overall technical capability of the organization.
• Identify and address technical debt, architectural gaps, performance bottlenecks, and engineering risks.
• Evaluate new technologies, frameworks, and tools and drive their adoption where they provide measurable technical or business value.
• Contribute to engineering standards, technical documentation, reusable frameworks, and platform capabilities.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure consistency in architecture, engineering practices, and technology decisions.
• Participate in incident analysis and drive long-term solutions for critical production issues.
• Balance technical excellence, delivery timelines, business priorities, and maintainability when making engineering decisions.

Preferred candidate profile

• 5 to 10 years of experience in Software Engineering, with significant experience owning complex technical systems and providing technical leadership.
• Strong expertise in software architecture, system design, distributed systems, and scalable application development.
• Strong programming experience in one or more languages such as Java, C++, Python, C#, Go, or Node.js.
• Strong understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, Design Patterns, and Software Engineering principles.
• Hands-on experience with Microservices, REST APIs, Event-Driven Architecture, API Design, and distributed systems.
• Strong knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, or DynamoDB.
• Experience with messaging and streaming technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or equivalent platforms.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Git, Jenkins, Terraform, and DevOps practices is preferred.
• Proven experience designing systems for high availability, scalability, reliability, security, and performance optimization.
• Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and influencing architecture and engineering decisions without relying solely on formal authority.
• Strong technical leadership, mentoring, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Architects, DevOps, Data, and other cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of ambiguous and technically challenging problems and deliver measurable business impact.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics, or a related technical discipline.
• B.E./B.Tech/MCA/M.Tech or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Cloud, Kubernetes, DevOps, or architecture certifications are an added advantage but not mandatory.
