Sr. Manager-Purchase Tooling

Role & responsibilities :

Tooling Procurement & Sourcing

• Source and procure plastic injection molds, gauges, fixtures, checking fixtures, assembly jigs, and related tooling.
• Manage RFQ (Request for Quotation) process for new tooling requirements.
• Evaluate supplier quotations based on cost, quality, capacity, technical capability, and delivery commitments.
• Conduct commercial negotiations and finalize tooling contracts and purchase orders.
• Ensure competitive sourcing and cost optimization initiatives.

Supplier Management

• Identify, develop, and qualify tooling suppliers for automotive plastic components.
• Monitor supplier performance through KPIs related to quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness.
• Conduct supplier audits and capability assessments.
• Coordinate with suppliers for tooling modifications, maintenance, engineering changes, and capacity enhancement.

Project & Tool Development Management

• Work closely with Product Development, Engineering, Program Management, and Quality teams during new product launches.
• Track tooling development activities from design approval to tool trials and PPAP readiness.
• Ensure adherence to project timelines and milestone tracking.
• Support mold flow analysis reviews, design discussions, and technical feasibility assessments.

Cost Management

• Prepare cost breakdown analysis for tooling investments.
• Drive VA/VE initiatives and productivity improvements.
• Monitor tooling budgets and maintain investment records.
• Support annual cost reduction programs and sourcing strategies.

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure tooling meets automotive quality standards and customer requirements.
• Support APQP, PPAP, and supplier quality processes.
• Manage engineering changes (ECN/ECR) impacting tooling.
• Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and automotive industry standards.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain tooling database, contracts, drawings, purchase orders, and technical specifications.
• Generate procurement, project progress, and cost-saving reports.
• Track tooling assets and ownership documentation.
